15th Annual Epcot International Food & Wine Festival

The 15th annual Epcot International Food & Wine Festival, which opened last weekend and runs through Nov. 14, is celebrating its 15th year. Last year it drew 1.2 million people over its six-week run; this year, organizers expect more.

The heart of the festival is the international marketplace with 27 kiosks ringing World Showcase Lagoon along a 1.3-mile path. Each kiosk represents a country and features two or three dishes and at least one beverage from that country — a total of 90 to 100 food items served in tasting portions. The beverage pairings have become far more sophisticated, and now, in addition to wine and beer, include regional cocktails like Singapore Slings and frozen Caipirinhas, smoothies, mint tea, chocolate iced coffee, and lemonade spiked with Jim Beam Red Stag bourbon.

• World Showcase has kiosks representing 27 countries, each with two or three food items plus wine or other beverages, $3-$8 per item. New this year are South Korea, Belgium and Singapore.

• Wine and beverage seminars and culinary demonstrations cost $8-$13, run 45 minutes and include tastings. Reservations recommended.
