Cruises are great! Even though they say you don’t need a passport to go on a cruise we urge people to get a passport and take it with them. You never know what may happen when you are on the water. If something does happen (injury, illness, or missing your ship) and you have your passport you can be air lifted back into the United States. If you go out on a ship without your passport that ship will be your only way back.
“it is a great way to see many locations in the same trip without ever having to unpack. New ships are like floating cities. Disney has a new ship the Dream, Royal Caribbean just launched the sister ship to Oasis, the Allure, and Norwegian has the Epic.” –cruznmoretravel–

plus the passport is valid for 10 years, so it is really cheap compared to the loss you will feel if you get a chance to go overseas at the last minute and have to decline due to not having a passport!
